The recent EWEA conference in Vienna, Austria (4-7 February 2013) featured several presentations and posters covering cutting-edge research carried out by staff at Zephir Ltd.
Relative Power Curve Measurements Using Turbine Mounted, Continuous-Wave Lidar by C Slinger et al presented data from a trial in Denmark, including power curves obtained by a ZephIR 300 unit measuring at different ranges in front of the turbine.
The effect of buoy motion on continuous wave lidar wind velocity measurement by M Pitter et al showed that measurements by ZephIR are robust even under quite severe platform motions.
Lidar Turbulence Measurements for Wind Farm Energy Yield Analysis by W Barker et al presented evidence of the ability of ZephIR 300 to measure TI values in non-complex terrain to an accuracy suitable for use in a typical wind farm energy yield analysis.
Finally, two papers in collaboration with the Wind Energy Department at Risø DTU describe novel turbine-mounted lidar measurement schemes: First field demonstration of blade-mounted wind lidars (A T Pedersen et al), and Full two-dimensional rotor plane inflow measurements by a spinner-integrated wind lidar (M Sjöholm et al).
