Proposed 24MW wind farm begins initial wind and noise assessments
Renewable energy developer Green Switch Capital, now part of the Qair Group is conducting wind and noise assessments with ZX Measurement Services over a period of 12 months at the proposed Monashee Wind Farm located between Grantshouse and Duns, Scotland.
The four-turbine site covers an area of approximately 155Ha and the recent deployment of a ground-based, low-profile, ZX 300 wind Lidar and associated noise monitoring equipment allows for first studies to be conducted quickly and easily with no significant impact on the locality. Wind speeds are assessed from ground based to the target turbine heights without the need to install a traditional meteorological mast.
Pete McLaren, Head of Scottish Development for Green Switch Capital commented: “Working with Scottish-based ZX Measurement Services, we have managed to quickly and easily install the necessary equipment that will help to confirm the feasibility of Monashee Wind Farm for the landowner, and Green Switch Capital, now part of Qair. Based on the outcome of studies such as this, we can continue our work with farmers and landowners to unlock the lease value of their land, giving them a predictable, guaranteed income for the entire lifecycle of the project.”
With over 15,000 deployments in 100 countries globally, the ZX 300 wind Lidar is built to last and operate in extreme environments, simple and complex terrain, and in clear air, all with its survive-in-field attitude.
