Ammonit partners with ZephIR Lidar as a Trusted Service Provider

Ammonit Measurement GmbH (Ammonit), leading supplier of high quality measurement equipment for wind and solar resource assessment and monitoring, complements its remote sensing portfolio with the wind lidar technology ZephIR. As ‘Trusted Service Provider’, Ammonit supplies ZephIR Lidar via its global market channels.

By implementing ZephIR technology, Ammonit’s customers benefit from accurate affordable wind data across all stages of wind farm project development. With ZephIR 300 for ground based installations and ZephIR DM for turbine-mounted applications, Zephir Ltd. (ZephIR Lidar) provides high quality measurement solutions proven by  more than 7 million hours of operation across several hundred deployments.

Established in 1989, Ammonit deliver reliable data loggers, first class meteorological sensors as well as data communication and power supply technologies for wind and solar measurement systems. Wind consultants, wind farm operators and research institutes in over 100 countries have successfully implemented Ammonit measurement systems. As requirements for wind measurement evolve and progress, Ammonit decided to offer the ZephIR 300 and ZephIR DM Lidar systems as its lidar wind measurement solution for wind energy applications.

Further to the announcement, Vincent Camier, Managing Director of Ammonit Measurement GmbH commented: “For the past five years Ammonit has been following the industries adoption of remote sensing technologies. In particular we have been assessing the various lidar technologies to complement our products and services. We have also been requested by many of our clients to offer a lidar solution as part of a combined package of services. ZephIR offers clear technology and performance benefits that no other lidar system can provide. From fully financeable wind data sets for wind farm developers, through to absolute power curve measurements in-situ on turbines, ZephIR adds value throughout the entire wind energy lifecycle. By adding ZephIR to our existing product range, we can provide our customers with an enhanced measurement solution. We look forward to reaching out to our diverse client base over the coming weeks with our new status of ZephIR Trusted Service Provider, ultimately delivering their wind measurement needs across all types of wind energy sites.”

Ian Locker, Managing Director of ZephIR Lidar welcomed the announcement: “We are very proud to be working with Ammonit. Ammonit provides quality wind data equipment and solutions, the inclusion of ZephIR products and services complements well with Ammonit’s current offerings. Ammonit has played a leading role in the wind and solar markets for over 25 years and has justifiably earned an enviable reputation across their customer base. We very much look forward to supporting them to continue to build on this success and further strengthen their position across the global wind measurement sectors. Together we will work hard to meet their customer’s requirements for finance-grade, accurate and reliable wind measurements.”

About Zephir Ltd.

“Celebrating 10 years of wind lidar excellence”

In 2003 we released the first commercial wind lidar, ZephIR®, exploiting decades of research at UK government Research & Development establishment QinetiQ. Designed specifically for the wind industry ZephIR has paved the way for many of the remote sensing devices seen in the market today. Our original lidar technology continues to innovate with world firsts such as taking measurements from a wind turbine spinner and being the first to deploy an offshore wind lidar, both fixed and floating. ZephIR has also now amassed more than 7 million hours of operation across 750+ deployments globally spanning a decade of commercial experience. For wind measurements onshore, offshore and in turbine-mounted applications, ZephIR provides accurate and reliable finance-grade wind data.

Zephir Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fred. Olsen Ltd. – established in the UK in 1963 with business interests primarily focussed on renewable energy, including ZephIR.
