ZephIR 300 Heralds New Era for Wind Lidar
Natural Power have announced the release of an evolution in lidar technology ZephIR 300 which draws upon the 6 years field experience and 450 deployments of the existing ZephIR system which has operated in over 25 countries worldwide. ZephIR 300 represents a validated, traceable and affordable continuous wave (CW) lidar system calibrated to an industry approved standard developed with GL Garrad Hassan, at the worlds first dedicated lidar test site. The proven core technology, which remains essentially unmodified…
ZephIR Lidar Deployed in Support of Narec Offshore Demonstrator Project
Narec, the national centre for the UK dedicated to advancing the development, demonstration, deployment and grid integration of renewable energy and low carbon generation technologies, is developing an offshore wind farm site in the North Sea comprising up to 20 pre-consented pods, at which tenants may deploy their prototype or pre-commercial turbines and foundations. As part of this project Narec has deployed a ZephIR lidar at an onshore site close to the eventual offshore location to provide a greater understanding…
ZephIR – RERL approved for measurements in the wind industry
ZephIR® laser anemometer – ‘RERL approved’ for wind resource assessment The Renewable Energy Research Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst (UMass) has successfully prepared and released an Assessment Report on Natural Power’s ZephIR® laser anemometer which is based on LiDAR technology. UMass has undertaken a data validation experiment which finds that the system achieves correlation of 0.98 up to the tested height of 118m in comparison to traditional cup anemometers. In addition, ZephIR® was shown to perform strongly in a…
